Quick start: from sign-up to your first answered call

Setup is included and you run it yourself: about 15 minutes in the setup wizard, a test call, then forwarding. Here is the whole path.
1. Create your account (2 minutes)
Sign in with Google or an email address at the portal. Use the email you want weekly reports sent to.
2. Setup wizard (about 15 minutes)
The wizard asks for your trade, your hours, your service area, your call-out fee, your emergency rules and your business facts, plus your agent’s name and voice. When you finish, the agent and a local DispatchLine number are built automatically. Everything can be changed later under Agent.
Have these ready: your business phone number, the towns or ZIPs you serve, your call-out or service fee, a card for the 3-day free trial (nothing is charged until day 4), and a rough average job value (used only for the revenue estimate on your dashboard).
3. Business facts (10 minutes)
Go to Business facts and answer the suggested questions: service-call fee, payment methods, licensed and insured, warranty, after-hours fee. The agent answers only from this list, so the more you add, the fewer “I’ll have the office confirm” answers your callers hear. See Writing good business facts.
4. Test it (right after setup)
Press Test call in the portal and the agent phones you. Run it twice: once as a routine booking, once as an emergency. Until that test call is done, your DispatchLine number does not answer customers and the forwarding steps stay locked, so you hear the agent before any customer does. Change the greeting, hours, emergency rules and business facts yourself in the portal; what the agent says, and how to change it shows where each line lives. For anything else, email support@getdispatchline.com and a person replies within one business day, or start an optional WhatsApp chat at +1 (814) 808-0593.
5. Forward your line (2 minutes)
Set conditional forwarding on your business number so calls you don’t answer go to your DispatchLine number. Instructions by carrier. Start with after-hours only if you want to build trust gradually. If forwarded calls do not reach the agent, see the agent isn’t answering forwarded calls.
What to expect the first week
- Confirmation texts to callers work from day one. They go from the shared DispatchLine messaging number, whose carrier verification is already approved, so there is nothing for you to file, and only to callers who say yes when the agent asks. You can switch them off under Agent → Booking. Booking and urgent alerts reach you by email from day one; text alerts to you are optional and need your opt-in.
- Calls appear in the portal within a minute of ending.
- Your first weekly report arrives Monday morning.
- Check the Leads page daily; a fast callback is your best chance of booking them.
- Correct any wrong outcomes so your reports stay honest.
