How many calls are you missing, and what are they worth?
Four numbers from your own records: calls a week, the share that go unanswered, how many callers usually become paid jobs, and your average job. The calculation runs in your browser.
The starting values are examples, not industry benchmarks. Replace them with your own numbers.
The assumptions behind that number
- A month is 52 ÷ 12, about 4.33 weeks.
- Every missed call is treated as a caller who would have become a paid job at your usual close rate. If some of your missed calls are spam, wrong numbers, repeat calls from one person or callers you reached later, lower the unanswered share to count only the rest.
- Revenue is not profit: the figure is job revenue before labor, materials and overhead.
- No industry benchmark is built in. We have not found a published missed-call rate or close rate for home-service businesses with a stated method we could check, so the calculator starts from example values and your own records should replace them.
Would answering more of those calls pay for itself?
The scenario below adds the share of missed calls a service would newly answer, your job margin and a DispatchLine plan, so you can compare the cost with the contribution.
Assumptions in the service scenario
Every starting value is illustrative, not a benchmark, a customer result or a promise. Replace it with your call history, collected job revenue and direct job costs. The share of missed calls newly answered is separate from the share that becomes a completed, paid job.
Revenue is not profit. Job contribution subtracts direct labor and materials using the margin you enter. Contribution after service then subtracts the monthly fee for the plan you select. This is still before fixed overhead and other excluded costs.
The return compares 12 months of that plan fee against the additional contribution over the same period. Your 3-day free trial is not billed and is not counted as a paid month in this comparison. Break-even rounds up the additional paid jobs needed each month to cover that service cost.
What this scenario doesn't establish
- Actual sales: a booked appointment may be cancelled or never become a paid job.
- Your net profit: taxes, advertising and other overhead are excluded.
- Causation: some callers might have reached you or booked without DispatchLine. Count only genuinely additional jobs.
Calculator values stay in your browser. If you have allowed optional analytics, a calculator-use event may be recorded, without the values you enter.
